KING JAMES HISTORY

47 Scholars participated in assembling the comprehensive KJV. 6 teams of 7 scholars each, in 3 cities. Each scholar was assigned a portion of text, each scholar reviewed each of the other members text, then the team would review the results as a group. Next, they passed their work to the other 5 teams. Then two from each team reviewed the final text. That's 14 reviews of each word over seven years. The king then sent the final version to the bishops of England for their experts to review, and the results were brought back to the final review team for completion.

The teams focused on verbal equivalence to translate word for word, then formal equivalence to translate noun for noun, adjective for adjective, etc. Dynamic equivalence of adding/subtracting words was particularly avoided. They removed most footnotes from the Geneva bible and kept mostly cross references. Their purpose was not a new translation, but to unify the others, making good ones better, into one principal one.

-The KJV has 783137 words, but the New International Version (NIV) only has 726109, where did the other 57,028 words go?
